Supporting University Rocketry
Rocketry is not just a great way to develop talent pipelines for the Irish space industry and support STEM graduates, but it also promotes STEM literacy and teamwork among a wider range of areas of study.
Across areas as broad as Law, Business, Media and Education, there is a benefit to getting involved in rocketry as a hobby and as part of a competition team.
Irish Rocketry helps promote, advise and support students across Ireland to help support the growth of rocketry in higher education.
Below are just some of the student groups currently building and launching rockets!

EirSEDS
SEDS is an international student organisation whose purpose is to promote space exploration and development through educational and engineering projects. SEDS is fostering the development of future leaders and contributors in the expanding space industry. EirSEDS is specifically aiming to reduce the barrier to entry for student space groups across Ireland. We want to support these groups by facilitating collaboration and the sharing of knowledge. We want to be a hub of knowledge and experience for students interested in all aspects of the space industry, from space launch to space law. We do this because we believe that Ireland has a future in space.
Queen’s Propulsion Laboratory
Institution: Queen's University Belfast
We are Queen’s Propulsion Laboratory, the largest student rocketry team in Northern Ireland. Through rocketry, robotics and propulsion we are preparing students for a career in the space industry. QPL is your home for space at Queen’s University Belfast!
ULAS HiPR
Institution: University of Limerick
A passionate group of students from University of Limerick who are developing and launching High-Powered Rockets. We believe that Ireland has the potential to be at the forefront in the NewSpace era of space engineering and that it must start at the University level.
EirSpace
Institutions: Trinity College Dublin, TU Dublin, University College Dublin, Dublin City University
An intervarsity student aerospace team — by students, for students. Connecting Ireland’s next generation of aerospace engineers.
Our mission is to represent Ireland on an international level, promote STEM to younger generations, and to provide Irish students with practical experience in aerospace engineering.
UCC Rocketry & Space Exploration Society
Institution: University College Cork
We are the UCC Rocketry & Space Exploration Society. We are the first competitive high-powered rocketry team from Cork and Second in the Republic of Ireland. Our team comprises over 60 dedicated students organised into Hardware and Software Avionics, Propulsion and Structural departments. Our goal is to spread awareness and get more people involved in rocketry and to represent Ireland at international rocketry competitions.
GLAS
Institution: University of Galway
The University of Galway's student-led rocketry team, where our passion for space meets our love for engineering. Bringing together students from a range of disciplines with one shared mission: advancing rocketry within Ireland.
We not only build rockets, but also have hopes of competing internationally and creating a unique environment for practical learning, research, and teamwork for students.
MTU Rocketry
Institution: Munster Technological University
We are a passionate group of students striving to push the boundaries of rocketry and aerospace engineering. Our mission is to design, test and build high-powered rockets to compete on national and international stages with other like-minded students.
Whether you're into design, science, engineering or just love the idea of launching something into the sky- MTU Rocketry is the place for you
